During Yaqina’s initial pilot phase, Yaqina presents each project and makes its progress visible but does not receive or manage contributions. Contributions are received and managed through the partner organisation’s own fundraising infrastructure and under its legal responsibility.

Who does what
Partner organisation
Fundraising, oversight and accountability
The partner organisation receives contributions through its own established fundraising infrastructure, carries out due diligence, oversees the implementation, manages and disburses the funds, coordinates reporting, and remains accountable for fundraising and the use of funds.
Local implementation team
On-the-ground delivery
The local implementation team carries out site assessment, procurement and implementation, coordinates with the local community, documents key milestones and, where relevant, arranges handover and long-term maintenance.

VISIBILITY, TRANSPARENCY AND SUPPORTER EXPERIENCE
Yaqina structures and presents the project, makes costs, responsibilities and milestones visible, publishes progress updates and shapes the Opening Day experience.

- A clearly defined location and target community
- A credible, itemised budget
- A realistic implementation timeline
- A recognised charitable organisation with a suitable fundraising channel
- Access to photos, documents and evidence from key milestones
- Clearly named responsible organisations, implementation teams and key contacts
- A clearly defined and documentable Opening Day marking the project’s completion
- A plan for delays, cost changes, incomplete funding and changes in scope
- Where relevant, a plan for handover, maintenance and long-term responsibility
INITIAL PILOT PHASE
How supporting a project works
Step 1
Discover the project
Supporters find the project on Yaqina and review its goal, budget, responsibilities, milestones and planned Opening Day.
Step 2
Follow the project
Before continuing to the partner organisation’s donation page, supporters can choose to follow the project on Yaqina and receive milestone updates and the Opening Day invitation.
Step 3
Donate through the partner organisation
Yaqina then directs them to the partner organisation’s donation page for the selected project—ideally requiring only the choice of payment method and final confirmation. The partner organisation receives and manages the donation.
During the initial pilot phase, all donations are processed through the partner organisation. Yaqina does not receive or hold funds.
